WOW! For over 30 years Bastrop Christian Outreach Center has supported and visited ministries all over the world. And you ask, “which one do you feel has been one of the most effective?” Hands down, Pan American Ministries (PAM). Why? Because we witness this ministry doing the right thing when no one else is looking (the definition of integrity). We watch as this team helps turn broken men and women into amazing, strong leaders. We rejoice with PAM as the ministry which began with four or five strong, vibrant churches grew to over fifty flourishing churches. We stand in awe as they train young leaders to pioneer churches in some of the most destitute places and rejoice at God’s supernatural provision each step of the journey. Words fail me in fully describing this ministry, but if I must settle on one word, it is “AMAZING”! Thank You, Steven & Leslie, Larry & Annis and the whole PAM team for your faithfulness, diligence and heart for God’s people. It is an immense honor to serve Jesus alongside you.
I’ve had the privilege of working with PAM both in Nicaragua and Mexico and see what an amazing job Missionary Steve is doing. Every place I have been in these countries, you can see the investment PAM has had on building and equipping churches, pastors and leaders. I love working with and supporting this ministry because they are doing an amazing job.
I’ve always had a love of Mexico and traveled to all the popular vacation spots, Belize, and Guatemala, but it wasn’t until I traveled to Costa Rica in 2006 that my interests piqued for the surrounding countries. My heart felt a strong pull, specifically for Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador, and this strong pull can only be described by being the Holy Spirit. What I knew about these three countries is what I’ve heard on the news or read about, and only the word of God can save these countries from ruination and despair.
One day in conversation with my sister in law who lives in Texas, I mentioned that I wanted to support a ministry who served that region of the world, and she led me to Steve. As the saying goes, “the rest is history. When God plants a desire in your heart, you want to be obedient to follow, and this is my story with Pan American Ministries.
My wife and I met the Schnedler family in the 80s and immediately were drawn to their sincere love for the Lord and their devotion to serving Him. After getting to know the passion they have for the people of Central America, the love the people of Central America have for them, and their humble spirits, it became easy to support PAM on a regular basis. You knew you were sewing into good soil. And now over 30 years later that spirit has remained a constant steadfast part of who they are, and it is exciting to Steven and Leslie continue the legacy of who PAM is. It has been our honor to be involved in a small way in the outreach. More importantly, we are honored and blessed to call them friends.
I support Pan American because simply put – you and your family are doing wonderful work helping people a world away to feel God’s love when everything else around them has likely devolved into just “survival”- and “grinding lack”.
Without your work and encouragement to those people– it might be easy to believe that our God is a myth.
When the Lord instructed me to give, I knew God’s hand was on Steven and Leslie. Being able to give and then receive reports of how God is changing the world through those involved has been one of my greatest joys. We’re instructed to preach the gospel to all nations. I believe in my small way that’s what I’m helping to do.”
Thanks for this opportunity! Thank you for making the sacrifices you make daily to fulfill God’s calling on your lives! What a privilege it is to know and love you both!
It is a privilege to be blessed to support this ministry and all the work they accomplish. Here is why. In 2020 I was truly mentally, physically and spiritually devastated by the level of suffering that I saw impacting these communities and also by my own shear helplessness to take any kind of meaningful action to actually DO anything worthwhile to intervene. I was actually having nightmares every night seeing and hearing their pain. This wasn’t simply a calling. It was a summons! Supporting Pan American Ministries not only gave me PEACE in my spirit, hearing about all the ways in which our support has been utilized to feed people, buy medicine, aid ministries in rebuilding, support those on the front lines during the COVID crisis, help people change their lives, all in the name of Jesus! It brings TEARS of JOY! We need ACTION VERBS in our faith! Steven Schnedler is a live action figure for Jesus!
